This book, which shows that boys and girls can do the same things equally well, won the N.C.E.R.T National Award for Children’s Literature in 1992-93.

Another story about friendship! Rami the gypsy girl who lives by the roadside agrees to give her favourite toy horse to a rich girl who takes a strong liking to it and gets a beautiful doll in exchange.

 

This book won the second prize in the Children’s Book Trust Competition for Writers 1994. I was quite excited when a school turned it into a play and staged it when I visited.
